Does anyone have tinnitus?
I have tinnitus wondered how best to deal with it what you think works best for you any information would be great thanks
I've had for almost 20 years. I got mine from hitting my head during a fainting spell. At first I could not accept at all, and kept trying desperately to return to how it was before it happened. That just made it worse because I was thinking about it all the time. But slowly, I began to accept that I had and began looking for ways to make it less annoying. I was awake for the first bird singing in the morning, only to hear a noise. Then I mind if I concentrated really hard on something, like reading a book or listening to television or gardening, I could forget about the tinnitus. Only worked for a few seconds to begin. But slowly a few seconds became minutes and minutes to half an hour was extended at a time. Now, I spend long periods without pay no attention to it and does not bother me very often. The main thing I find is to divert your mind away from the noise as much as possible. There are other things you can do so. You can get what is called a concealment device. They look like hearing aids and produce sounds that "mask" the noise of tinnitus. Because it is an external sound, Some people find it preferable to noise in their heads. Your audiologist works with you to determine what kind of noise masking brings relief. You can even get one sitting by you in bed so they do not have to use it. And strangely, hearing aids can help too. In fact, in some cases hearing aids not only provide a better hearing if you have any hearing loss with tinnitus, but tinnitus is eliminated, while wearing headphones. Other options ranging from oral medications to surgery. I do not know if you've seen an ENT specialist yet, but if your doctor may recommend. Do not be afraid to ask questions specialist or to tell you exactly how your tinnitus is affecting you. The more information you get more idea people have about the best way to deal to yours. will be easier to deal with time, to remain there. (((hugs)))
